December 18, 2019 Category: Expertise, Leadership

We recently sat down with Jessica Pridham, MediPharm Labs’ dedicated and disciplined Packaging Supervisor. Jessica oversees the activities of the Packaging Team, driving the daily and weekly master production schedule to ensure demands are met and goals are achieved. Her department’s top priority is to deliver on MediPharm Labs’ high internal standards of quality as well as to meet/exceed the brand standards of our white label customers. The company prides itself on always remaining compliant with Health and Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and statutory/regulatory requirements. Jessica works with other members of the production team to increase capacities and efficiencies and to ensure the timely and accurate completion of relevant packaging documentation. Under Jessica’s leadership, our Packaging Team performs an important function in the delivery of our cannabis products to patients, consumers and partners.

Jessica joined the MediPharm Labs team in January 2019. With nearly a full year at Canada’s leading cannabis extraction facility under her belt, here’s what she had to say about her experience to date:

1. What made you decide to join the MediPharm Labs team?

I was looking for a unique workplace with a positive team environment and lots of growth opportunities, all within a new and exciting industry. After doing some online research into co-founders Pat McCutcheon and Keith Strachan, it was obvious to me that they had a wealth of experience in pharmaceuticals and that this would ultimately lead to a bright and promising future for MediPharm Labs. These attributes made me feel like the company would be a good fit for me.

2. What’s your favourite thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is coming to work every day in such a friendly and welcoming environment. The team at MediPharm Labs feels like one big collaborative family and there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t feel valued and appreciated for the work that I put in.

3. What have you learned since joining the MediPharm team that you didn’t know before you started?

Prior to joining the MediPharm Labs team, I worked as a Quality Control associate for five years, testing aggregate products for a gravel testing corporation. While cannabis products and the cannabis industry were new subjects for me, this experience equipped me with a strong eye for quality products and helped me make the transition to the exciting world of MediPharm Labs. From terpenes to cannabinoids and flavonoids, there is so much to learn about this evolving and growing sector. Working in an environment where you get to learn something new every day keeps you on your toes. There is never a dull moment.

4. What three qualities do you bring to your work at MediPharm Labs?

I think I bring positivity, accuracy and confidence to the workplace. That’s important in a leader, but I think that my teammates really bring those qualities out in me. When you are working with tight deadlines and very specific SOPs and regulations, it’s critical to have a good attitude, to pay high attention to detail and to be sure of yourself.

5. Outside of work, what are your passion projects?

When I’m not at MediPharm Labs, my entire focus and attention goes into my two horses. I compete in barrel racing and travel to different locations throughout Canada and the U.S. to flex my skills. In October 2018, I competed in the World Championships in Perry, Georgia and ended up becoming a world finalist – a very cool experience! I plan to attend the same event in 2020 and I hope to have just as much success.
